ZOKU族 is an American Tribal Style® (ATS®) belly dance troupe created and directed by Maho Beaumont.
Maho, a FatChanceBellyDance® certified teacher with sister studio status, taught ATS® in London from 2010 to 2015 and has recently returned to Tokyo, Japan.
In March 2015 Maho named her dance school and troupe, ZOKU族. ZOKU族 (meaning troupe, tribe or family in Japanese) is a reminder of the respect and support we must each show the other members of our tribal family and of the essential dedication to the dance that brought us together. The current troupe members are Laura, Nening, Shelly and Charlotte and together they teach weekly Thursday evening classes at the studio in Chiswick Theatre Arts. Beginners are welcome and more information can be obtained from

American Tribal Style Belly Dance or Tribal Style Belly Dance (also known as ATS or Tribal) is a modern style of belly dance created by FatChanceBellyDance director, Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman.
The style’s movements are inspired by folkloric dances of the Middle East, North Africa, Spain and India. ATS is a method of improvisational choreography, using a vocabulary of movements and cues allowing the dancers to improvise together while dancing. The knowledge of the dance vocabulary allows ATS dancers from different regions to collaborate even if they have not previously danced with each other. It is generally performed in a group, often at community events such as festivals and parades.
